Statement/Concept Statement: In the effort to create expressive pottery, students
will reference 1800s South Carolinian face jugs and create their own slab jugs
with expressive faces.
II. Objectives / Expected Learner Outcomes
-Students
will know the history of face mugs and face jugs
-Gain
appreciation and knowledge of the African American contributions to folk art
made in the South Carolina region.

will use relief techniques (additive) to create the face on their jugs

will demonstrate balance and proportion on their jugs face
